Homeowners from Georgia, Florida and New York have been duped hundreds even thousands of dollars by dishonest con-artists pretending to be professional repair men. Her stove was broken and a service she found in the yellow pages responded to her pleas for help immediately. According the homeowner the perpetrator had checked her stove over and asked for $ 300 for the part replacement and $150 for his services. The$300 had to be paid upfront so the homeowner had no choice but to issue a check. According to her, once the check was cashed the pseudo repair man was never heard of again. Almost exactly the same thing happened to a resident of Florida. Her air-conditioning unit needed work and her unit was checked by an appliance repair service she found on the web. After demanding a $500 upfront payment for the part needed, the repair-man was never seen again. Many other homeowners have been victimized by the same modus operandi executed by different men pretending to be repair professionals nationwide.
